The Assistant Director of Spa is responsible for the establishment and execution of short- and long-term goals as set by the Spa Director. The Assistant Director of Spa is responsible for the daily leadership of the spa operations ensuring all productivity and expense controls are followed. The Assistant Director of Spa will share responsibility with the Director to ensure the achievement of sales goals, business objectives and profitability.
Responsibilities
Monitor, and enforce the Spa’s policies, processes, and procedures.
Lead recruiting, interviewing, and hiring efforts for Associates; conduct performance appraisals, coach and counsel, progressive corrective action, motivate, develop, and train.
Promote and sell customized spa programs to conference groups as required.
Identify new business and marketing opportunities.
Implement a public relations program, i.e., calendar of events, media, etc.
Work efficiently with hotel public relations and marketing team in all aspects of spa/hotel promotion as required.
Maintain thorough knowledge of competitors, including location, product offering, pricing, promotions, and sales techniques.
Coordinate and communicate with outside vendors to maximize relationships, profitability, performance, and service standards while maintaining the first-class condition of the Spa.
Ensure department compliance with the JW Marriott Turnberry Miami Resort and Spa policies, procedures, and programs.
Prepare and oversee the department's financial goals.
Overseeing product retailing operations at the Spa.
Manages supply inventories and purchasing control, including uniforms.
Strives to continually improve guest and employee satisfaction and maximize the financial performance of the department.
Responsible for projecting a positive image within the facility, maintaining an atmosphere of cooperative teamwork that emphasizes customer service and satisfaction.
Perform any other reasonable duties as required by management.
Job Requirements:
Minimum of 2 years’ experience in management or supervisory position in a spa or related field. Experience in the hospitality industry an asset.
Thorough knowledge of full range of spa services and therapies.
Professional demeanor appropriate for a luxury environment.
Well organized and demonstrated strong problem-solving skills.
Effective leadership, supervisory, and management skills.
Ability to communicate effectively and establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, management, and staff.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree or combination of 2 years’ relevant education and experience preferred
Skills and Abilities
Ability to communicate in the English language. Second language is a plus.
Basic business math and accounting skills.
Ability to work flexible schedules including holidays and weekends and able to perform multiple tasks.
Experience using computers and software programs such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
Physical Requirements
Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
Must be physically fit to lift, pull, and push items up to 100 pounds.
Also requires standing/walking/reaching and bending throughout shift.
