We are seeking a Market Director of Catering Sales to lead catering revenue generation at the JW Marriott Indianapolis — one of Indianapolis's most prestigious luxury hotel properties. In this senior catering sales leadership role, you will direct the catering effort in alignment with the annual asset maximization and hotel business plan, drive top line catering revenue to exceed budget expectations, and work closely with Operations and the sales team to develop and implement an effective catering business plan. The ideal candidate is an experienced catering sales director or senior catering sales manager with a proven track record in proactive and reactive sales, client relationship management, and closing group and catering business in an upscale hotel environment. What You'll Do
- Build rapport with clients, qualify their needs, sell the appropriate hotel services, book business in the Sales and Catering systems, and confirm sales with contracts
- Prepare correspondence to customers, internal booking reports, and maintain accurate files
- Ensure that Operations and Event Management has all information needed to adequately service each group
- Lead and participate in daily business review meetings, pre-convention meetings, training sessions, and other sales-related meetings as required
- Work collaboratively with other hotel departments to provide quality service to customers
- Attend trade shows, community events, and industry meetings to build relationships and generate new business
- Develop and maintain knowledge of market trends, competition, and customers to inform sales strategy
What You'll Bring

- Mastery of both reactive and proactive sales processes, including qualifying group leads, closing business, prospecting for new business, and growing current producing accounts
- A 4-year degree in Business or equivalent hotel experience, including at least one year of sales experience
