To make associates’ vacations a little sweeter and a lot cheaper, Marriott proudly offers its associates the Explore Program, which provides a special discounted rate at the company’s more than 8,500 hotels across 138 countries.
Below, see some examples of how and where real associates have used Marriott’s employee discount.
What does it look like to use the Marriott Explore Program as an associate?
“This summer I have a very exciting month-long vacation happening! I will be starting in Paris for the weekend. Then head down to Burgundy for a friend’s wedding in a Chateau during the week. After, journey south to Monaco and explore the South of France the following weekend. From there, travel to Switzerland for another week to visit family. The next destination will be Malta to explore the beautiful beaches. From there, go back to Miami for a quick reset. Then, concluding this memorable trip in Punta Mita as the final destination,” says Luis, Director of Housekeeping at The Ritz-Carlton, South Beach, of his swoon-worthy summer travels. “I was able to find an amazing rate at the Riviera Marriott Hotel La Porte de Monaco during summer prime time. Also, at The St. Regis Punta Mita Resort, which is one of my bucket list properties to visit. I am super excited and grateful for this wonderful benefit that allows me to enjoy unique destinations and enhance my travel experiences.”
California HR Manager Jacquelin uses the rate to stay at Marriott hotels across the U.S., from Hawaii to Arizona and Utah to Maryland and even various National Parks.
“I used the employee discount at The Westin Georgetown, Washington DC,” recalls Kofi, a Customer Engagement Center associate in Omaha. “My daughter was attending grad school at American University then, and I was able to enjoy the Marriott employee discount rate, which was an awesome savings. It was also a great opportunity for me to enjoy the perks of my Marriott benefits, and I took that opportunity to sign up for the Marriott Bonvoy account as well.”
Florida sales leader Derek and his partner love exploring the world while taking advantage of the Explore Rate, which has “allowed us to stay in some incredible properties,” including luxury hotels in Milan and Vienna.
“Thank God for the discount! I think the travel discount makes things easier to travel, especially as a college student,” says Elijah, a front desk agent and Johnson & Wales University student. “I love traveling to see the architecture of the building, the design layout, the rooms, and I love talking to employees like me to hear their backstory. I love hearing about people’s personal journeys and what made them choose the hotel industry. I got a chance to visit Boston Marriott Long Wharf and it was the best experience I ever had. I saw the R&B group New Edition at the TD Garden arena in Boston. Long Wharf is such a beautiful property and can’t wait to stay again!”
Chicago Housekeeping Coordinator Carolina uses the discount to travel back home to visit her family in Veracruz, Mexico, and to celebrate her daughter’s birthday: “I used the Explore Rate to get a few rooms at a local hotel, invite the family and throw her a hotel party! She would invite her cousins and we’d have a sleepover for one or two nights. They had a blast!”
“I’m a marathoner and Marriott’s work-life balance enables me to train (since joining, I ran Boston in October ’21, Paris in April ’22, and I’ll run Boston again in April),” says Ben. “I stayed at a Marriott on that trip, taking advantage of the Explore Rate benefit!”
“I have used my Explore Rate to make life-long memories,” says VP of Engineering Nick, who just became a member of the Quarter Century Club after celebrating 25 years of employment with Marriott. “I have taken my daughter around the country to play softball. I have taken my son on hunting and fishing adventures. I have used it to meet my family over the holidays at the halfway point since we are so far apart. Lastly, and most importantly, I have used the Explore Rate to take my wife to some of our luxury resort beach locations for our wedding anniversaries.”
“I’ve been around the world, thanks to Marriott,” says Veketia, a Marriott HQ Global Operations leader. “There’s nothing better than to be able to just travel for like $49 to $59 and $69. It’s fantastic, I’ve been up and down the world this year.”
“My family from El Salvador is coming to visit and I’m thinking of taking a little vacation with them to Florida,” says José, an M Club attendant at the New Orleans Marriott, of how he’s planning to use the Explore Rate. “A week or at least four days at the Marriott hotel in Destin, Florida.”
“I’m a big skier, so we travel for skiing, and I’ve been able to use it in both Vail and Beaver Creek in Colorado,” says Engineering Director David on how he likes to take advantage of the employee benefit.
