FLEX Director Data Management - Market Mix Model
Marriott International HQThe FLEX Director, Market Mix Modeling (MMM) Data Management is a member of the Global Intelligence Products (GIP) organization and an integral part of Marriott’s Strategy, Business Intelligence, and Data (SBID) group. This position will be responsible for devising, implementing, and assessing strategies related to data operations (such as data collection, curation, and analytics enablement) for MMM to support marketing and media performance. This role will involve close collaboration with marketing leaders, analytics managers, data engineers/analysts, and external vendors and media agencies to facilitate data collection, data quality assurance, and the implementation of proactive measures to drive informed business decisions and marketing effectiveness at scale. This high-impact position will involve direct interaction with the leadership teams across the Business Intelligence and Marketing organizations. The Director will also partner with IT to implement departmental data strategies, such as efficient data models for disparate marketing data and ensure the integration of MMM product with Marriott’s owned platforms.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
Education and Experience Required
4-year degree from an accredited college or university in Data Analytics, Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or similar quantitative discipline AND six or more years of progressive experience in data management, analytics, data warehousing, or data science OR
- Master’s degree AND four or more years of progressive experience in data management, analytics, data warehousing, or data science
- Strong background in SQL for data modeling and data analysis
- Analytical mindset and extensive experience with developing analyses
Education and Experience Preferred
- MS or MBA
- Basic understanding[AY1] of Marketing Analytics & Market Mix Models
- Proven track record of solid consulting skills and experience working with large-scale data and analytics projects
- Technical Skills
- Cloud Data Warehouse (Snowflake, Big Query/Redshift & traditional data warehouses considered)
- Cloud Data Platform (AWS, Azure/GCP)
- Data Analysis/Programming languages (SQL, Python, Spark)

CORE WORK ACTIVITIES
Primary Leadership Activities
- Provides leadership, consulting, and information expertise to achieve the goals for Data Ops:
- Data and Analytics Infrastructure: Work with Analytics and IT teams to develop and deploy an effective marketing data and customer analytics infrastructure
- Design data products in Snowflake for enabling reporting and analytics
- Query digital data to provide validation, research data quality issues, answer stakeholder questions, provide detailed requirements, and produce data product documentation
- Contribute to data strategy, data management, and enhanced data products for use by the Marketing discipline
- Documents and serves as an owner of all ongoing data requirements (for each KPI model, each continent in scope, each update)
- Supports analytics in data collection and data validation/management
- Identifies data gaps and data errors with internal data sources and implements solutions in a timely manner in collaboration with all data teams (Marketing, Digital, Reservations, etc.)
- Serves as the main data POC with external vendors and agencies and has a solid understanding of external data sources
- Triangulates results from external data sources with internal dashboards and performance reports
- Identifies discrepancies in external vs. internal data sources and conducts root cause analyses using internal data
- Oversees the broader data strategy and effectively prioritizes implementation tactics for MMM data to ensure they are in line with overall organizational goals and long-term business strategies
- Manages vendors/technical staff to build the infrastructure to support data & reporting solutions in AWS, Snowflake, Tableau, Python, etc.

- Updates stakeholders on key initiative wins and opportunities, responds to concerns, and solicits feedback
- Engages leadership to develop and execute action plans to address gaps
Managing Profitability
- Analyzes service issues and identifies trends
- Works with teams to develop an operational strategy that is aligned with the brand’s business strategy and leads its execution
- Reviews and audit expenses
Managing Revenue Goals
- Monitors performance against budget
- Reviews reports and financial statements to determine operations’ performance against budget
- Coaches and supports team to manage expenses and controllable expenses
The hourly pay range for this position is $74.03 to $98.75.
