FLEX Director - Technology Portfolio Management

As a member of the Technology Portfolio Management (TPM) team, the Director of Portfolio Management will be responsible for providing visibility into the flow of demand across the enterprise technology portfolio, coordinating dependencies and impacts across value streams, and supporting the intake and prioritization of work across the Marriott International Global Technology organization. 

Ensures portfolio success by engaging product portfolio leaders and product teams to implement effective intake, review, and prioritization of initiatives. Establishing visibility into the flow of value, monitoring work in progress, and driving ongoing quarterly planning efforts. Defining portfolio and program guardrails in line with Global Technology standards and tools for iT delivery. Developing a framework of Key Performance Indicators and Objectives and Key Result measures to inform and shape current and future portfolio of work.

The role will serve as thought leader and change agent to the product operating model transformation and establishing the foundation for a long-standing portfolio management capability for Global Technology. They will work with TPM leaders and partners throughout the organization to develop leading Lean Portfolio Management practices and foster business agility and strategic portfolio delivery.  

 

Education and Experience

 

Required:

  • 10+ years relevant work experience in delivering and/or managing complex strategic technology initiatives demonstrating:
  • Developing and managing relationships in large IT organizations
  • Managing cross-functional, sourced, and matrixed product and technical teams
  • Managing large portfolio(s) of cross functional initiatives
  • Process and performance indicator development expertise
  • Demonstrated ability to resolve conflicts and drive direction/focus
  • Monitoring and measuring flow of value across portfolio Kanban(s)
  • Presenting/Communicating with senior and executive leaders
  • 7+ years of agile delivery experience with demonstrated knowledge of the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe), and Lean Portfolio Management (LPM) practices
  • Experience in defining and monitoring Program and Portfolio guardrails
  • Experience in organizational change management with understanding of driving a large-scale agile transformation and building effective feedback loops
  • Clear and concise communicator with all levels of the organization, through written and oral communications. Ability to influence change and stakeholder alignment through effective presentation skills, and storytelling using key performance metrics
  • Robust analytical skills, including the ability to analyze large arrays of data, draw conclusions, and develop and communicate recommendations
  • Strong interpersonal skills that enable working with counterparts from various functions/departments and influencing the work of counterparts without direct reporting accountability
  • BA/BS/MS/MBA or equivalent experience/certification.

 

Preferred:

  • 5+ years experience working in a Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) enterprise, including SAFe implementation efforts
  • 3+ years of experience in portfolio management operations with knowledge of Lean Portfolio Management practices
  • Leading SAFe® (SA) SAFe Agilist Certification
  • SAFe® Lean Portfolio Management (LPM) Certification

 

CORE WORK ACTIVITIES

  • Manage a view of the enterprise portfolio of work across the Global Technology organization and the flow of value delivery
  • Provide key insights on the flow of initiatives through enterprise portfolio Kanban and work with product teams to monitor data accuracy and throughput of work in progress
  • Engage portfolio leaders across Global Technology to facilitate thoughtful prioritization of work and develop capacity measures to improve predictability of outcomes
  • Work with product leaders across the organization to establish Portfolio Roadmap(s) and implement on going quarterly planning efforts
  • Establish framework of Key Performance Indicators and Objectives and Key Result measures to inform and direct the delivery of work against strategic priorities and organizational mandates
  • Facilitate standing Portfolio Synch meetings, including required inputs, captured learning/decisions, and actionable outcomes for stakeholders and executive leaders
  • Collaborate with organizational leaders and product teams to implement, scale, and continuously improve portfolio management practices by leveraging the Scaled Agile Lean Portfolio Management Framework
  • Provide thought leadership and expertise on Lean Portfolio Management best practices in an environment with products in different stages of their agile journey
  • Develops and executes clear communications across IT regarding program guardrails and portfolio management routines.

 

The pay range for this position is $67.01 to $88.80 per hour.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                  

Washington Applicants Only: Employees will accrue 0.0334 PTO balance for every hour worked and eligible to receive minimum of 9 holidays annually.
