We are currently seeking a Head Chef to lead our 1 hatted restaurant Sydney Common.

The Head Chef at Sydney Common leads all culinary operations while ensuring exceptional food quality and maintaining the restaurant’s award-winning standards. This role focuses on menu development centered around locally sourced and sustainable ingredients with a strong emphasis on wood-fired cooking using the Josper oven and grill.

Key responsibilities of the role include managing kitchen staff, driving culinary innovation, and fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement. The Head Chef oversees all financial aspects of the kitchen, including food cost control, budgeting, forecasting, supplier negotiations, and inventory management, ensuring profitability and efficiency.

Collaboration with the hotel’s F&B management team is essential to enhance the dining experience, support banquets and events and align with the overall F&B strategy. 

Success in this role requires strong leadership, financial acumen, creativity, and a passion for delivering exceptional dining experiences that reflect the dynamic identity of Sydney Common.

  • Proven experience as a Head Chef
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to lead a team of high performing chefs
  • Creativity in menu design and development
  • Proven ability to oversee financial aspects of the kitchen
  • Exceptional organisational skills
