 JOB SUMMARY

Marriott International is seeking a visionary SVP, Data and Analytics to spearhead our enterprise Data & Analytics function. In this crucial role, you will craft and implement a comprehensive data and AI strategy that aligns seamlessly with our organizational objectives. You will champion data governance frameworks, ensuring data quality and compliance, while spearheading innovative AI initiatives to enhance predictive analytics and automation. A key aspect of your role will be overseeing Marriott’s Gen AI Studio, driving enhancements in customer experiences and optimizing business operations.

Your leadership will foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within a high-performing team dedicated to leveraging data as a strategic asset. As the SVP, Data & Analytics you will oversee the advanced data science practice, delivering impactful business outcomes through cutting-edge analytical solutions. This includes analyzing company KPIs and pinpointing areas of improvement. Collaborating with continent data leads, you will drive operational excellence by leveraging analytics and developing self-service reporting tools for leaders and key stakeholders, including our Owner and Franchise community, empowering them to make data-driven decisions. In conjunction with the Chief Technology Officer, you will provide strategic direction to the Data Engineering function, ensuring that our data capabilities are aligned with our overall strategy. 

 

CANDIDATE PROFILE 

Education and Experience

Required

  • Master’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field; PhD preferred.
  • 15+ years of experience in data analytics, data science, or related fields, with at least 5 years in a leadership role driving business performance at a large enterprise. 
  • Proficiency in data analytics tools (e.g., SQL, Python, R) and experience with AI technologies (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch).
  • Strong leadership and team-building skills with a proven ability to influence and drive change.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex data and AI insights to non-technical stakeholders.

CORE WORK ACTIVITIES 

  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement a comprehensive data and AI strategy aligned with Marriott’s goals and objectives.
  • Data Governance: Establish data governance frameworks to ensure data quality, privacy, and compliance with regulations.
  • AI Development: Oversee the design and execution of AI initiatives, including machine learning models and algorithms, to enhance predictive analytics and automation. This also includes oversight of Marriott’s Gen AI Studio.
  • Analytics Development: Lead advanced analytics and data science initiatives to derive actionable insights from data and deliver impactful business outcomes through innovative analytical solutions.
  • Self-Service Tools/Products Development: Develop robust global self-service tools and products for leaders and other key stakeholders, including the Owners and Franchise community, to empower data-driven decision-making.
  • Team Management: Build and lead a high-performing data and analytics team, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with executive leadership and cross-functional teams to identify data and AI needs, driving opportunities for leveraging analytics and AI technologies.
  • Technology Oversight: Evaluate and implement data management, analytics, and AI tools and technologies in conjunction with the Chief Technology Officer to enhance data capabilities.
  • Performance Metrics: Define key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of data and AI initiatives, reporting progress to stakeholders. Assess company KPIs and partner closely with continent data leads to drive operational excellence. 
  • Champion Excellence: Drive a strong culture around business ethics and integrity, social responsibility, cross-cultural effectiveness, and associate engagement.
 

The salary range for this position is $277,098 to $387,922 annually. Marriott offers a bonus program, comprehensive health care benefits, 401(k) plan with up to 5% company match, employee stock purchase plan at 15% discount, accrued paid time off (including sick leave where applicable), life insurance, group disability insurance, travel discounts, adoption assistance, paid parental leave, health savings account (except for positions based out of or performed in Hawaii), flexible spending accounts, tuition assistance, pre-tax commuter benefits, other life and work wellness benefits, and may include other incentives such as stock awards and deferred compensation plans.
