The Sr. Manager, Consumer PR, Luxury Brands, CALA, plays a key role on the CALA Continent Comms & PR team independently developing and executing CALA Consumer PR strategy for the CALA luxury portfolio and brands across key media markets in the region. With a strong focus on MI Luxury Group brands, the role ensures strategic press coverage to drive priority initiatives, such as portfolio awareness and brand differentiation, destination PR, and top line revenue. The Sr. Manager, Consumer PR, Luxury Brands, CALA liaises closely with the global luxury PR teams, as well as the CALA Brand marketing, partnership and loyalty teams and the CALA PR COE. The role also oversees a dedicated agency resource. Key responsibilities include providing proactive and strategic PR guidance, independently writing and reviewing a wide range of PR materials, including press releases, messaging briefs, and newsletters, as well as managing brand appropriate media and influencer relations, and PR event coordination. The position reports to the Vice President, Comms & PR, CALA and is based in Mexico.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
Education and Experience
- 4-year university degree from an accredited university in public relations, communications or journalism required
- 5+ years of communications, media relations and/or related field experience required; PR agency or campaign communications experience preferred; travel or hospitality experience a plus
- Excellent English and Spanish language and written skills required. Writing and proofreading is a key part of this role.
- Knowledge of brand public relations in the luxury space with experience in agency management, media relations, press writing, events and speech writing.
- Understanding of influencer PR, both paid and earned.
- Strong execution skills and organizational capabilities.
- Strategic and creative thinker with the ability to take the lead and drive campaigns; ability to identify and execute new ideas.
- Process oriented, well-organized, and capable of working quickly and simultaneously handling several projects; agility to adjust priorities and ability to balance interests of multiple stakeholders.
- A team player who works well with others and contributed to the team’s success.
CORE WORK ACTIVITIES
MILUX Portfolio and Brand PR (80%)
- Independently propose MI Luxury Group portfolio and brand PR strategy for CALA and develop plans to drive brand recognition, differentiation, creating a positive perception of luxury brands in region
- Liaise with global luxury brand PR teams and their agencies as well as CALA brand and loyalty teams and PR agencies to align on strategy and results
- Responsible for developing and writing, editing and reviewing CALA luxury brand press releases, adapting global releases, developing and reviewing pitches; proof hotel opening releases from a brand lens
- Play a key role in planning, implementing and execution/pull-through of luxury brand initiatives and events in region; direct dedicated agency resource for execution
- Support PR COE with luxury openings, especially CALA Halo openings, giving guidance
- Develop press/news/story angles for each brand (writing, editing, approval & distribution)
- Quality review and proof reading of PR materials to ensure that brand messaging is adequate
- Build & strengthen relationships with regional, local/national & US media outlets, travel writers & trade press to ensure positive exposure
- Brand pitching support
- Provide strategic guidance for internal and external executive comms, including presentations, executive remarks and thought leadership pieces
- Guide agencies on FAM trips, developing programs, securing attendees, planning itineraries, hosting onsite; host FAM as a MI CALA representative
- Coordinate media and influencer stays, maintaining and building brand-appropriate relationships
- Oversee luxury brand PR reporting – liaise with CALA analytics agency and the global brand teams to ensure inclusion of relevant CALA results
Marriott Bonvoy and Partnership PR for Luxury (20%)
- Engage closely with CALA Loyalty and Partnerships teams, as well as Sr Manager, Consumer PR, Non-Luxury Brands on loyalty and partnership strategy, supporting ideation and execution with PR
- Independently develop luxury PR angles and approach for impactful coverage
