JOB SUMMARY

The Senior Manager, Strategy & Planning, Greater China is a key member of the Strategy & Planning Greater China organization, which supports the Greater China leadership team on strategy, planning, business advisory, and implementation.  The position will report into the Senior Director, Strategy & Planning, GC. This role is responsible for:

•    Providing end-to-end project management, communications and analytical support through internal consulting projects to support Greater China strategy planning and improve our business performance and efficiency in key areas and functions
•    Partnership with Commercial and Customer groups and various other internal stakeholders to drive cross-discipline programs
•    Supporting consumer operations initiatives in the capacity of a program manager and thought leader
•    Preparing and presenting executive-level materials based on research, analyses and syntheses to support Greater China leadership meetings and strategic decisions

Success in this role requires strong organizational skills and problem-solving skills, and the ability to deliver complex project and manage multiple priorities concurrently.  This position will work closely with other departments within Marriott’s Greater China offices (e.g., Customer, Commercial, Technology and Digital) as well as with the senior leadership team.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

Education and Experience
•    6+ years of relevant professional experience, demonstrating progressive career growth and a pattern of exceptional performance
•    Prior management consulting experience operating successfully at a post-MBA consultant level
•    Prior experience leading strategy planning and initiatives implementation within the Greater China region
•    Prior corporate experience in the field of strategy, sales & marketing, or operations within western multinational companies highly desirable
•    Experience in hospitality industry would be advantageous
•    Bachelor’s degree required
•    MBA from a top tier institution preferred

•    Develop hypotheses, conduct research, drive fact-base building and conduct quantitative and qualitative analyses in a hypotheses-led approach
•    Synthesize problem statements, findings, and recommendations to produce executive-level presentations
•    Identify and prioritize issues and solutions based on strategic goals and organizational context
•    Build and strengthen relationship with internal stakeholders within Greater China and headquarter
•    Business acumen and organizational and cultural awareness to build relationship, deal with ambiguity and push for results
•    Strong communication skills to drive cross-function projects and deliver presentations
•    Native-level mandarin speaker; excellent command of English (both writing and speaking)

Core Work Activities
Special projects.  Act as a project management leader with the following responsibilities:
•    Accountable to the results of projects
•    Develop hypotheses to lead research and analyses and drive problem solving
•    Liaise cross-discipline work
•    Own content development and/ or provide content guidance
•    Participate in review cycles at key milestones & facilitate go/no-go decision
•    Develop and drive implementation plan
•    Establish key milestones and approval roles
•    Ensure timely delivery against milestones
•    Present project findings and results to key stakeholders

Strategy planning.  Support Greater China strategy development and long-range planning process
•    Conduct research to generate outside-in insights on market trends and customer/ consumer needs
•    Collect and analyze data to assess business performance
•    Prioritize strategic topics and initiatives
•    Synthesize findings and recommendations and prepare executive-level presentations for Greater China leadership
•    Establish project timelines and milestones and push workstream progress
•    Participate in key meetings to facilitate discussions
•    Track strategic implementation and key initiatives
