Residence Inn by Marriott is an extended-stay hotel brand with more than 750 properties worldwide, designed to help guests make the most of their time away from home. Residence Inn Traverse City features 121 spacious suites with full kitchens and separate living, working, and sleeping areas. Guests can enjoy amenities such as outdoor spaces with fire pits and grills, an indoor pool, and a rooftop bar opening later this year.
The Assistant General Manager is a full-time, on-site role located at the Residence Inn by Marriott in Traverse City, MI. This position supports the General Manager in overseeing daily hotel operations, including front desk, housekeeping, and food and beverage services, to ensure a high level of guest satisfaction and adherence to brand standards.
The Assistant General Manager monitors staffing levels, assists with scheduling, and helps train and coach team members to deliver consistent, friendly, and efficient service. The role also focuses on compliance with safety, security, and quality guidelines. In addition, the Assistant General Manager helps resolve guest issues, coordinates special requests, and collaborates with local partners to enhance the guest experience.
Job Qualification:
- Experience in hotel or hospitality operations management, preferably in an extended-stay or select-service environment.
- Strong leadership abilities, including team supervision, coaching, and performance management skills.
- Proficiency in guest service, conflict resolution, and effective communication with guests, team members, and stakeholders.
- Basic understanding of budgeting, revenue management, and cost control in a hotel or service-focused setting.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time efficiently, and maintain attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
- Comfort with hotel property management systems and common office software; willingness to learn new tools as needed.
- Availability to work a flexible schedule, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays based on business needs.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; post-secondary education in hospitality, business, or a related field is preferred.
- Previous supervisory or assistant management experience in hospitality or a similar customer-facing industry is highly beneficial.
