Assistant Manager, Global Design & Pre-Opening Services Accounting

JOB SUMMARY

This position supports the Manager, Finance Business Partner of Global Design and Pre-Opening Services in overseeing the creation and maintenance of project level accounts by project accountants and ensure that all posting, allocations, accruals and payments for the project are completed according to schedule. 

The Assistant Manager is responsible for preparing and presenting the financial statements of the Global Design & Pre-Opening Services Teams, ensuring its accuracy and timeliness, and supporting ad-hoc financial analysis for business decision-making, as required. This role plays a key part in driving process improvement, strengthening financial controls, and supporting compliance with owner and contractual requirements.

CANDIDATE PROFILE 

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field is preferred. 
  • Minimum of 5+ years in accounting or finance with at least 1-3 years in a supervisory role or task-lead role.
  • Strong understanding of accounting processes and reporting cycles within a multinational or regional corporate environment.
  • Experience in the hospitality or real estate development industry is an advantage.

Skills and Competencies

  • Strong technical accounting knowledge with hands-on experience in project-level accounting, reporting, and reconciliations.
  • Proactive and detail-oriented, with the ability to identify issues and support timely resolution in collaboration with the Manager.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products, specifically Microsoft Excel and Power Point.  Experience in analytical applications and tools such as Power BI preferred.
  • Strong background in reviewing financial statements, analytical, and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify potential risks and escalate appropriately. 
  • Demonstrate excellence in cross-functional communication and team collaboration.
  • Ability to organize large volumes of data to create a synthesized, meaningful analysis. 
  • Demonstrate ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a team environment or contribute independently; strong time management skills and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Adaptable to fast paced work environment with new and changing responsibilities. Self-starter with strong tendency toward pro-active process improvement.
  • Proficient in English required. 

CORE WORK ACTIVITIES

  • Complete accurate and timely project set-up in the PeopleSoft system.
  • Support the Manager in ensuring compliance with internal controls, owner contractual obligations, and accounting standards. Escalate exceptions and support remediation actions.
  • Monitor and review project costs for accuracy and make applicable adjusting entries. Support Manager to prepare and analyze project forecasts as applicable; identify potential risks and communicate appropriately.
  • Ensure projects are billed in a timely and accurate manner, in accordance with owner/contractual requirements; may include contractual agreements including foreign currency translation issues.
  • Support Manager in monitoring problem accounts receivable items including past due problem accounts; escalate to appropriate level for resolution.
  • Prepare and issue timely and accurate project status reporting to Project Managers and Asset Managers on a periodic basis. Complete timely and accurate project close out activities in conjunction with project management and in accordance with Owner and contractual requirements.
  • Compile and review account reconciliations for accuracy and resolve reconciliation issues for assigned projects.
  • Assists in preparing consolidated Pre-Opening Service teams’ operating results and forecasts for accuracy, escalating potential risks to the Manager as needed. 
  • Support ad-hoc analyses for supporting disciplines, ensuring conclusions are delivered with clear findings and recommendations. 
  • Contribute to process improvement opportunities by recommending opportunities for standardization and efficiency through the use of technology and strong systems capabilities.
