POSITION SUMMARY

 

Audio Visual and Operations Technician you will be responsible for setting up, testing and managing all technical elements of a client's AV requirements at the venue.  You will work closely with the sales team and our third party AV partner when required (for requirements outside of our capability), understanding the client contract for the event, big or small, delivering exactly as required to ensure a successful event.  You will use your passion for engaging with the clients to meet their expectations, and where possible, exceed these.

 

Set-up, operate, and troubleshoot all AV/projection/lighting/conferencing equipment, devices, and systems. Oversee the set-up of AV equipment in banquet and meeting rooms. Ensure all AV equipment is fully operational, repair or clean equipment when necessary. Label any broken equipment and communicate problems to manager/supervisor. Tape down and dress all loose wire and cable. Check delivered equipment and room set-up against Banquet Event Order. Communicate any additions or deletions to flowsheets to manager/supervisor. Assist and instruct guests/customers regarding proper usage and operation of AV equipment, up-sell different AV services, and monitor equipment operation at appropriate intervals. Break-down, remove, and secure equipment when not in use. Read, understand, and adhere to Marriott Visual Productions (MVP program) SOP book.

 

Follow all company safety and security policies and procedures, and report accidents, injuries, and unsafe work conditions to manager. Follow all company policies and procedures, ensure uniform and personal appearance are clean and professional, maintain confidentiality of proprietary information, and protect company assets. Welcome and acknowledge all guests according to company standards, anticipate and address guests’ service needs, and thank guests with genuine appreciation. Speak with others using clear and professional language. Develop and maintain positive working relationships with others, and support team to reach common goals. Comply with quality assurance expectations and standards. Reach, grasp, turn, manipulate, move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 50 pounds without assistance. Visually inspect tools, equipment, or machines. Perform other reasonable job duties as requested by Supervisors.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education: High School diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.

Related Work Experience: At least 1 year of related work experience.

Supervisory Experience: No supervisory experience.

License or Certification: None

 

Your key duties of this role include:

  • Deliver the technical elements of each event, on time as per standards specified in the client contract
  • Operate Audio, Vision and Lighting equipment for large and small live events, conferences and meetings
  • Optimise client service through contributions to the technical team and provide technical support to clients
  • Support the activities of the Sales teams by providing high levels of service and supporting client relationship and customer service activities
  • Be a team player – work with the sales team, events and food and beverage teams to ensure client satisfaction and resolve problems should they arise
  • Assist the operational teams where needed to deliver on wider-hotel guest experience improvements – setting rooms, assisting outlets with supportive tasks such as cleaning tables and overall having an open-mind to supporting the guest journey!

Ideally you will have:

  • Technical AV skills with demonstrated experience in live and corporate and/or relevant qualifications
  • Proven experience in working with projectors, drop-down screen, and other visual equipment used for events, meetings, and conferences
  • Proven experience in working with microphones, speakers, mixers, and other audio equipment
  • Proven experience in supporting entertainment partners with music and audio requirements
  • Proven experience in working with AV Crestron systems
  • Proven experience trouble shooting AV challenges quickly and to client satisfaction
  • Proven Experience in programmable lighting consoles is an advantage
  • Experience in hospitality is an advantage
  • Experience in HDMI, DVI, & SDI signal over Ethernet or Fibre.
  • Well presented, strong customer/client service ethic and a genuine desire to deliver what you promise
  • Ability to develop relationships with customers, peers, and managers
  • Intermediate computer skills, presentation software such MS PowerPoint, VLC Media Player and Online Video Conferencing software.
  • Ability to organise your time efficiently, work to deadlines
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
