Chief Engineer – Moxy
The Chief Engineer at a Moxy hotel leads all engineering and maintenance operations, ensuring systems run efficiently, safety standards are met, and the Moxy culture is reflected in the department.
Role Overview
As Chief Engineer, you will be responsible for the smooth, efficient, and safe operation of all hotel engineering systems, while mentoring and leading your team. You will embody the Moxy’s high-energy, creative culture and ensure guest satisfaction through excellent technical service and operational excellence
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Staff Management: Interview, select, train, schedule, coach, and support engineering staff; ensure performance meets brand and hotel standards
Operations Oversight: Supervise maintenance of refrigeration, heating, plumbing, water treatment, HVAC, lighting, kitchen equipment, emergency generators, electrical substations, fire/life safety systems, and other hotel systems
Preventative Maintenance: Develop, plan, and maintain preventive maintenance programs for guest rooms, meeting rooms, public areas, back-of-house spaces, and hotel equipment
Safety & Compliance: Provide safety training, ensure compliance with regulations, and maintain safety controls and annual certifications
Project Management: Oversee projects to ensure timely completion per brand specifications; coordinate with Housekeeping, Guest Services, and contractors
Inventory & Budgeting: Manage department inventory, purchasing, and budget; maintain key control and cleanliness of work areas
Guest Service: Model professional, courteous service; communicate guest satisfaction scores to drive improvement
Qualifications:
Education: High school diploma or GED
Experience: Minimum 2 years in engineering/maintenance or related field; technical training in HVAC-R, electrical, and plumbing
Skills: Strong leadership, problem-solving, budgeting, inventory management, and cross-departmental coordination abilities
