This role goes beyond leading an HR function. The CHRO, APEC is a steward of culture, architect of talent strategy, and catalyst for transformation, ensuring that people, leadership, and organizational capability are tightly aligned with business priorities. Operating at the intersection of enterprise strategy and local market realities, the CHRO champions a modern, inclusive, and future‑ready people agenda that enables associates, leaders, owners, and franchise partners to thrive.
The CHRO, APEC also partners with Global HR Centers of Excellence to shape strategy so that it meet regional needs, and leads their local teams within the regional offices and hotels to execute against both key initiatives and business as usual HR efforts with a level of excellence, rigor and care that reflects the authentic hospitality we provide to our guests.
EXPECTED CONTRIBUTIONS
STRATEGIC TALENT & ORGANIZATION LEADERSHIP- Act as a core member of the APEC executive leadership team, integrating people strategy into business planning, transformation initiatives, and growth priorities to drive unit growth, market expansion, and brand excellence / evolution.
- Anticipate workforce trends, capability gaps, and organizational risks, translating insights into proactive, data‑informed people decisions.
- Shape end‑to‑end talent strategies—spanning attraction, development, engagement, and succession—to build strong leadership pipelines, organizational resilience and ultimately ensure the achievement of targets in support of the continent’s balanced scorecard goals.
- Shape the continent operating model by aligning organization design, leadership capabilities, and decision rights to strategic priorities.
- Partner with continent leadership to translate strategy into executable structures, roles, and talent models that accelerate performance and accountability.
- Use workforce data, business insights, and external trends to inform investment decisions, growth strategies, and risk mitigation across the region.
- Champion a high‑performance, inclusive culture that reflects Marriott’s values while embracing regional and local market diversity.
- Lead enterprise and regional change efforts—including organizational evolution, leadership transitions, and business transformation—ensuring adoption, engagement, and sustained impact.
- Anticipate inflection points and proactively reconfigure talent, leadership, and culture to support future business scenarios.
- Elevate leadership effectiveness through coaching, organizational development, and targeted capability‑building across all levels.
- Champion excellence in business ethics and integrity, social responsibility, cross-cultural effectiveness, and associate engagement.
- Build and inspire high‑performing HR leaders both in the APEC offices and our hotels that operate as agile business partners with world-class effectiveness, not just functional experts.
- Partner closely with Global HR Centers of Expertise to tailor enterprise solutions—talent, rewards, learning, workforce planning, HR technology, analytics —to APEC’s unique market needs.
- Leverage digital tools, workforce insights, and simplified processes to create a seamless, modern associate and leader experience.
- Acts as a thought partner and confidant to the President, APEC - bringing an enterprise perspective on talent, scale, risk, and long‑term value creation into core business decisions.
- Partner with regional leaders, owners and franchisees to ensure people strategies directly support hotel performance, profitability, and long‑term asset value.
- Navigate complex stakeholder environments with sound judgment, cultural fluency, and a long‑term business mindset.
- Ensure balanced decision-making that balances the needs of the various stakeholder groups and promotes the long-term viability of the business.
- Advocate for ethical leadership, social responsibility, and sustainable people practices across the region.
- A future‑ready APEC workforce with strong leadership bench strength and clear succession pipelines.

- Proven success as a senior HR executive, including a minimum of five years leading HR at a business unit, division, or enterprise level with a prior track record of increasingly responsible and progressive career growth.
- Experience operating as a member of a senior executive or regional leadership team within complex, matrixed, multi‑market organizations.
- Demonstrated leadership of large‑scale transformation efforts, including organizational change, talent strategy evolution, and enterprise program adoption.
- Strong ability to influence across cultures, geographies, and stakeholder groups.
- Enterprise thinker with strong commercial acumen and the ability to connect people decisions to business outcomes.
- Comfortable leading in ambiguity, balancing global enterprise priorities with local market realities.
- Influential executive presence—able to challenge, advise, and partner with senior leaders and owners.
- A blend of HR generalist leadership and depth in one or more specialty areas (talent, OD, rewards, workforce strategy, or learning).
- International experience, including exposure to markets outside the United States; prior expatriate experience is a plus.
- A track record of modernizing HR practices through digital enablement, analytics, and improved associate experience.
- Bachelor’s degree required; graduate degree (MBA or related) preferred.
