Chief Steward

Sheraton Fiji Golf & Beach Resort

The Chief Steward oversees the kitchen utility and stewarding department to maintain the highest standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and operational efficiency. Responsibilities include managing dish room activities, night cleaning, back‑dock sanitation, banquet support, equipment care, and inventory control. The role leads the stewarding team, supports food & beverage operations, ensures compliance with safety and sanitation regulations, and contributes to guest and associate satisfaction while maintaining budget goals.

POSITION SUMMARY

  • Managing Day‑to‑Day Operations
  • Maintain all equipment in working condition and ensure proper usage procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with food handling, sanitation guidelines, and relevant laws.
  • Lead, coach, and supervise employees across all daily stewarding operations.
  • Maintain productivity levels and monitor performance expectations.
  • Ensuring Exceptional Customer Service
  • Coordinate efforts across departments to ensure operational and service expectations are met.
  • Managing and Conducting Human Resource Activities
  • Set performance standards, monitor progress, and provide ongoing coaching.
  • Review employee satisfaction results and address areas for improvement.
  • Ensure staff knowledge and compliance with sanitation, equipment use, and chemical handling requirements.

QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in stewarding, culinary, F&B, procurement, or related fields
  • Degree in Hospitality, Hotel & Restaurant Management, Business Administration, or related major
  • Strong leadership skills with experience managing diverse teams.
  • Knowledge of sanitation standards, HACCP, equipment operation, and chemical handling.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment with high attention to detail.
  • Open to both local and overseas applicants (must meet applicable work rights or visa requirements).
