The Director of Opening, Commercial Tools & Service, will lead a team accountable for end-to-end commercial readiness across all new hotel openings, conversions, and acquisitions in the region. The Director will take proactive leadership in establishing innovative, scalable, standardized and constantly evolving frameworks for Sales, Marketing, and Revenue Management pre-opening activities for new build and transition properties—ensuring timely execution, cross-functional alignment, and a strong foundation for post-opening performance. In addition to project delivery, the role drives capability building, knowledge management, and continuous improvement across the Greater China pre-opening ecosystem, positioning the team as a strategic enabler of brand growth and market competitiveness.
This role will play an important role in supporting leadership team of Commercial Tools & Services to build Commercial Tools & Services center together to provide hotels with enhanced, AI-enabled one-stop-shop providing access to “360” suite of tools, services and content that outline strategic guardrails through consistent standards and assets.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
Technical Expertise
• Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in hotel Sales, Marketing, or Revenue Management within an international hospitality environment; multi-brand experience strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated mastery of commercial systems (e.g., CRS, RMS, PMS) and advanced proficiency in data analysis for strategic decision-making.
• Strong command of Microsoft Office365 & other technological tools, ability to produce high-quality deliverables under tight deadlines.
• Professional project management certification is a plus.

Education & Logistics
• Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management, Business, Marketing, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• Willingness to travel.
CORE WORK ACTIVITIES & KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategic Leadership
• Develop and continuously refine a multi-brand, commercially robust pre-opening framework for Sales, Marketing, and Revenue disciplines.
• Establish data-driven project evaluation models to prioritize resources and optimize support allocation.
• Identify systemic gaps or trends in pre-opening processes and lead initiatives to enhance service quality, efficiency, and financial outcomes.
Project Execution & Business Function Goals
• Manage a portfolio of 30+ concurrent hotel openings, conversions, or acquisitions across all Marriott brands in Greater China.
• Lead the development and implementation of the Sales & Marketing Pre-Opening Critical Path
• Oversee key commercial milestones: system activation, “Open to sell” status, OTA onboarding, and segment-specific opportunity pipelines (Corporate, Group, Aircrew, Catering, etc.).
• Connect new Sales Leader onboard with Marriott GSO network and Account Sales Office (ASO)
• Support system activation activities and hotel available to sell
• Ensure seamless handover to on-property Sales, Marketing, and Revenue teams at least three months before opening and support the final countdown process as needed.
• Maintain up to date Global and Continent programs & initiatives to be included in the Pre-opening Critical Path
• Support on company and Continent level growth projects
Cross-Functional Collaboration
• Collaborate with other function teams on cross-functional issues and drive win-win resolutions without direct authority.
Quality Assurance & Knowledge Management
• Implement digital dashboards for real-time tracking of project timelines, risks, and KPIs across the portfolio.
