Director - UX
Marriott International HQ The Director, User Experience Design – BI Reporting & Dashboards is responsible for defining and executing the vision for user experience across enterprise business intelligence reporting and dashboard products. This role focuses on creating intuitive, visually compelling, and highly usable BI solutions that empower users to make data-driven decisions. As an individual contributor reporting into the BI and Analytics organization, the Director will collaborate with data product teams, business analytics, data science, and reporting groups to deliver best-in-class digital experiences. The position requires deep UX expertise, strong design leadership, and the ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable insights through elegant design systems and interaction patterns.
Candidate Profile
Required
- 8+ years of relevant UX/product design experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in UX, HCI, Design, or a related discipline (Master’s preferred or equivalent experience/certification).
- Strong portfolio showcasing UX and interaction design for complex digital products, ideally including BI, analytics, or data visualization tools.
- Experience designing for web-based dashboards, reporting platforms, or enterprise applications.
- Proven ability to translate complex data and business requirements into clear, user-friendly experiences.
- Expertise in UX/UI, visual design, and interaction design, with a strong sense of aesthetics and attention to detail.
- Experience with user research, usability testing, and data-driven design iteration.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and presentation skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, agile, and cross-functional environment.
Preferred
- Experience with motion design and animation for data visualization.
- Familiarity with major BI tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, Looker) and enterprise data environments.
- Experience balancing user, business, and technical needs in large-scale digital products.
- Superior facilitation, storytelling, and design system management skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end UX design process for BI reporting and dashboard products, from concept to delivery.
- Produce sketches, wireframes, flows, high-fidelity designs, prototypes, and presentations as needed.
- Develop and maintain design systems, visual standards, and interaction patterns for BI products.
- Ensure a quality user experience by participating in user acceptance testing and leveraging user research and analytics.
- Present and clearly communicate design solutions and rationale to leadership and stakeholders.
- Collaborate with the data products team, business analytics, data science, and reporting/BI teams to bring designs to life and achieve high-quality shipped products.
- Employ user testing and research methodologies (e.g., surveys, usability testing, A/B testing) to inform and iterate on design work.
- Drive innovation in data visualization, dashboard interactivity, and self-service analytics experiences.
- Foster a culture of feedback, continuous learning, and design excellence within the BI and analytics organization.
