Position Overview

The Engineering Manager plays a vital leadership role within the property, overseeing the daily operations and long-term maintenance of the hotel’s physical assets. This position ensures that all building systems, equipment, and facilities are maintained to the highest standards of safety, efficiency, and aesthetic excellence. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with strong technical skills, a passion for hospitality, and the ability to inspire and guide a dedicated engineering team in a high-volume luxury setting.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Development

Lead, train, motivate, and support the engineering team while fostering a positive, engaged, and high-performance work culture.

Conduct regular coaching, skills development, and performance assessments.

Ensure strong collaboration within the department and across the hotel.

Operational Excellence

Perform and oversee routine maintenance and repair of all hotel systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and life-safety equipment.

Ensure all facilities, equipment, and guestrooms are kept in impeccable condition to support the hotel’s luxury standards.

Prioritize and manage work orders to maximize efficiency and guest satisfaction.

Safety, Compliance & Risk Management

Support safety and security initiatives in coordination with Loss Prevention to maintain a safe environment for guests and associates.

Oversee and maintain compliance with all local, state, and federal codes, as well as hotel brand standards.

Manage required safety programs, including annual inspections, licenses, and certifications.

Financial & Administrative Responsibilities

Manage departmental budgets, capital projects, and inventory of tools, supplies, and materials.

Assist with forecasting, planning, and cost-control initiatives.

Maintain accurate logs, reports, and documentation as needed.

Communication & Collaboration

Communicate effectively with the Director of Engineering & Loss Prevention, General Manager, and ownership regarding operational needs, ongoing projects, risks, and recommendations.

Partner with other departments to support smooth hotel operations and exceptional guest experiences

 

3+ years of engineering leadership experience in a hotel, resort, or similar facility.

Strong technical knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical systems, and building maintenance.

Proven leadership skills with a focus on team development and positive culture building.

Excellent problem-solving abilities with strong organizational and time-management skills.

Ability to remain calm and effective in high-pressure or emergency situations.

Working knowledge of safety standards, regulatory requirements, and preventative maintenance programs.

Flexible availability, including nights, weekends, and holidays as business needs demand.

Marriott or luxury hotel experience preferred but not required.
