The Tasman, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Hobart, is introducing LUMINA, a striking new architectural events venue in Parliament Square overlooking Hobart’s waterfront. Designed as a versatile, column-free space with unobstructed views, LUMINA will elevate Tasmania’s events landscape. Combining The Tasman’s renowned intuitive service with the acclaimed culinary identity of Peppina and Mary Mary, the venue will deliver highly personalised events that showcase Tasmanian character and produce.
In this highly visible role, you will lead and inspire our events operation team to deliver bespoke service for a variety of events - from intimate gatherings to grand celebrations. You will take pride in creating seamless experiences where every detail reflects The Tasman’s hallmark sophistication and warmth.
The Opportunity
As an Events Operations Team Leader, you will play a key role in delivering seamless, high-quality event experiences. You will:
- Lead and oversee event setups, ensuring cleanliness, accuracy, and presentation in accordance with event specifications and brand standards.
- Execute special event requirements flawlessly, contributing to exceptional guest experiences.
- Supervise and support the Events Operations team during functions, providing direction, coaching, and hands-on assistance.
- Inspect table setups and service stations, resolving issues promptly to maintain quality and attention to detail.
- Train and develop team members, sharing knowledge of service standards, procedures, and products.
- Collaborate closely with the Culinary and Event Planning teams to ensure smooth service flow and timely delivery of food and beverages.
- Maintain a clean, organised environment while upholding all health, safety, and food-handling standards.
About You
You will bring:
- Previous experience as an Events/Banquet Operations experience in a luxury hotel or premium event environment - or the motivation and capability to take the next step in your career.
- A refined and intuitive approach to service, with strong understanding of event flow and guest engagement.
- Genuine interest in food and beverage, with coffee and cocktail/wine knowledge highly regarded.
- Strong organizational and leadership skills, with the ability to mentor, train, and motivate a team.
- Ability to understand Banquet Event Orders and plan effective function set ups
- Able to make decisions and be the support to the event operations team
- Calmness under pressure, paired with exceptional attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
- Impeccable personal presentation and communication skills.
- A valid Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) Certificate.
- Full Australian working rights.
- Flexibility to work across varied shifts, including days, evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
