Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site role for an Executive Sous Chef at The Westin Book Cadillac Detroit, located in Detroit, MI. The Executive Sous Chef will assist the Executive Chef in overseeing kitchen operations, managing the culinary team, and ensuring the highest standards of food preparation and presentation. Responsibilities include menu planning, inventory and budget management, maintaining food safety compliance, training kitchen staff, and ensuring that culinary operations align with the hotel’s commitment to excellence in hospitality. The role requires leadership, creativity, and a passion for creating exceptional dining experiences.
Job Qualifications:
- Proficiency in menu planning, recipe creation, and high-quality food preparation
- Expertise in kitchen management, inventory control, and cost management
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with experience in training and development of culinary staff
- Knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards, with a focus on compliance with health regulations
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment while maintaining attention to detail
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach
- Culinary degree or equivalent experience; proven background in the hospitality industry
- Prior experience as an Executive Sous Chef or in a similar leadership role within a premium or luxury hotel is a plus.
