Marriott has an exciting opportunity for a MiNT Core Reporting Support - Engineer on the Data & AI team.  This role is part of the team focused on supporting our business intelligence (BI) platform MiNT - Marriott Intelligence.  Appropriate candidates have a passion for data, business intelligence (BI), emerging technologies, and a strong drive for success. 

In this role, you will function as a MiNT Platform Engineer to oversee enhancements and daily operations of the MiNT portal. You will perform research, analysis, incident management, DQ checks, and monitoring on a range of data capabilities and products. 

You will also work on defining rules, tools and schools of the CoE – Center of Excellence, to guide various Pod teams,

CANDIDATE PROFILE

Education and Experience

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Analytics, or related discipline
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in platform engineering, Web, and Business Intelligence technologies.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in the Metric Insights Tool.
  • Proficiency in SQL, ETL processes, web technologies, ReactJS, and reporting tools (Power BI, Tableau, Cognos) 
  • Strong experience in Snowflake, Snowflake Cortex, and other AI technologies
  • Strong understanding of data warehousing, web technologies, and business intelligence concepts
  • Strong technical skills with proven ability to collaborate with Service Provider technical resources
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues
  • Strong communication skills

Preferred:

  • Technology certifications in Snowflake and any BI tools
  • Experience in agile software methodologies
  • Demonstrated ability to anticipate future data platform opportunities

     

CORE WORK ACTIVITIES

Technical Leadership

  • Trains other team members, and peers as appropriate 
  • Ability to work liaising with multiple teams to facilitate issue resolution
  • Identifies opportunities to enhance the service delivery processes.

Delivering Technology 

  • Oversee daily operations and enhancements of MiNT core reporting systems 
  • Develop and maintain ETL pipelines for reporting data sources
  • Ensure accuracy and availability of reporting data
  • Provide technical support for reporting infrastructure issues
  • Investigate failed reports, refresh failures, and query errors
  • Participate in root cause analysis (RCA) calls
  • Coordinate with SRE, platform teams, and vendors
  • Document root causes, workarounds, and known errors
  • Lead and participate in RCAs
  • Track problem tickets and coordinate next steps with platform and vendor teams

 

IT Governance

  • Follows all defined IT standards and processes (i.e. IT Governance, SM&G, Architecture, etc.), and provides input for improvements to the appropriate process owners as needed
  • Maintains a proper balance between business and operational risk 
  • Ability to assess when risks need to be escalated to the right channels. 
  • Follows the defined project management standards and processes

 

Service Provider Management

  • Validates that Service Providers develop and manage respective aspects of a project plan, including schedules, deliverables, and appropriate metrics.
  • Makes short-term plans for the team to effectively utilize resources
  • Monitors Service Provider outcomes
  • Reviews estimates of work effort for the client project provided by Service Providers for accuracy
  • Facilitates the timely resolution of service delivery problems and minimizes the impact on clients
