SUMMARY 

Marriott International is seeking a visionary and strategic Senior Director, Global Select + Midscale Brands to shape the future of assigned brands within a rapidly evolving portfolio. This leader translates global category vision into actionable strategies and long-term brand plans, guiding multi-year priorities and making enterprise-level decisions that balance brand ambition, commercial performance, and market realities. By partnering closely with continent and discipline teams, the Senior Director fosters innovation, elevates guest experiences, and ensures brand relevance and measurable business impact across markets. 

 

The Senior Director will have direct responsibility for multiple brands and work closely with continents to monitor and develop strategies and tactics to improve Brand Health metrics, including customer satisfaction, unit growth, and competitive positioning. The role will lead multi-disciplinary projects to deliver complex key brand initiatives, including launching new brands, repositioning brands, and driving transformational change across the brand lifecycle. 

 

As a connector and brand steward, this role balances enterprise objectives with market dynamics, exercises sound judgment in ambiguous, matrixed environments, champions operational excellence, and inspires teams to deliver differentiated results. The ideal candidate is a results-driven, commercially minded brand strategist with exceptional leadership skills, a passion for guest experience, and the ability to influence without authority, align senior stakeholders, and drive sustained performance in service of Marriott’s growth ambitions. 

 

CANDIDATE PROFILE 

Education and Experience 

Required 

  • 4-year degree from an accredited university in Business Administration, Marketing, or related major 

  • 10+ years of relevant professional experience demonstrating career growth and exceptional performance 

  • Proven ability to develop and execute strategic brand plans and multi-year business strategies with clear performance outcomes 

  • Experience leading cross-functional teams and managing complex, multi-brand initiatives in highly matrixed, global environments 

  • Strong analytical skills, with experience leveraging consumer insights and market data to inform strategy and prioritize initiatives based on business impact 

 

Preferred 

  • MBA or equivalent advanced degree 

  • Experience collaborating with continent / business teams to drive initiatives and align competing priorities 

  • Track record of delivering results in complex, ambiguous environments requiring strong judgment, decisiveness, and influence 

  • Demonstrated commercial and financial acumen, including evaluating trade-offs between brand value, owner economics, and enterprise ROI 

 

CORE WORK ACTIVITIES 

Brand Strategy, Architecture & Stewardship 

  • Defines and maintains brand positioning for assigned brands; ensures clarity and alignment with global strategy while enabling appropriate local flexibility within established guardrails. 

  • Develops compelling, differentiated brand strategies informed by consumer, competitive, and stakeholder needs and grounded in commercial and operational realities. 

  • Supports creation of strategic brand business plans, including economic strategy, product/service models, brand positioning, and value proposition. 

  • Defines and manages brand initiatives and projects through execution across continents, ensuring strategic pull-through and accountability for outcomes. 

 

Brand Health, Advocacy & Growth 

  • Defines brand performance metrics and recommends performance targets aligned to both brand health and business growth objectives. 

  • Monitors performance for assigned brands and identifies optimization opportunities, making data-driven recommendations to course-correct as needed. 

  • Serves as brand advocate, educating stakeholders on brand strategy, positioning, and strategic pillars to build shared understanding and commitment. 

  • Represents the brand in external forums, reviewing and evolving standards and operational practices with credibility among owners, partners, and industry stakeholders. 

 

Innovation, New Product Integration 

  • Leads new product creation / integration for the Select category from concept through sustained market performance. 

  • Plays point across product and customer teams to ensure new brands are positioned, launched, and sustained effectively, making prioritization decisions to maximize long-term brand and business value. 

 

Leadership, Continent Empowerment & Cross-Functional Influence 

  • Serves as the primary liaison between global leadership and continent teams, supporting communication strategies and integration plans, escalating challenges and sharing best practices while driving clarity, alignment, and decision velocity. 

  • Collaborates with cross-discipline teams—including design, standards, end-to-end experience design, marketing, and global operations—to shape and implement brand initiatives through influence, executive presence, and strong storytelling. 

 

Insights-Driven Product Innovation & Operational Feasibility 

  • Leverages consumer insights, market trends, and data analytics to identify opportunities for innovative products and experiences that differentiate the brand and drive guest engagement.   

  • Leads brand-specific innovation projects, supports integration within global guardrails and ensures solutions are scalable across regions. 

  • Partners with cross-discipline teams to ensure new products and initiatives are operationally feasible, scalable, and aligned with brand strategy from concept through implementation balancing speed, quality, and cost considerations. 

 

Leadership Development, Culture & Team Excellence 

  • Translates global vision into actionable team strategies, ensuring alignment with enterprise priorities and clear ownership of results. 

  • Inspires and leads high-performing teams, fostering innovation and excellence while developing future brand leaders and building a strong talent pipeline. 

  • Drives a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and learning across the team.
