JOB SUMMARY

This role partners with business and discipline leaders across APEC to design, plan, and execute learning experiences that develop talent, strengthen brand capability, and improve hotel performance. The Senior Manager brings hotel operations experience together with strong learning design expertise, ensuring learning solutions are practical, relevant, and executable in real hotel environments. This role requires excellent planning discipline, strong stakeholder management, meticulous follow-through, and high-quality PowerPoint design, with the ability to manage complex initiatives across markets. This is a hands-on role that combines design thinking, operational rigor, and enterprise influence.

We're looking for a leader with hotel operations insight together with strong learning design expertise to help translate strategic priorities into practical, commercially relevant solutions that is applicable and drives results. Partnering closely with business and discipline leaders across APEC to design and guide learning solutions that develop our people, strengthen our brand, and drive hotel performance. You'll bring your knowledge and expertise to recommend what works, curate quality content from the best sources, manage vendor relationships, and enable our disciplines to run effective programs across service culture, leadership, operations, and commercial effectiveness. You'll be the trusted advisor who builds strong stakeholder relationships, represents our regional context in global conversations, and continuously improves how we learn. You’ll thrive on turning ideas into execution, balancing regional scale with local impact, and using learning as a lever for measurable business outcomes.

CANDIDATE PROFILE 

Education and Experience

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in hotel management, learning design, organizational development, human resources, or a related discipline
  • Meaningful experience in hotel operations (on-property or above-property)
  • Minimum 4 years of progressive experience across learning & development or talent development
  • Demonstrated experience designing learning experiences across multiple modalities (in-person, virtual, blended)
  • Proven ability to manage complex programs end-to-end, from planning through execution and follow-up
  • Strong stakeholder partnership skills across multiple levels and geographies

Preferred

  • Experience working in a matrixed environment
  • Experience adapting global programs and content to meet regional or local needs
  • Familiarity with learning technologies and content authoring tools 
  • Experience managing vendor relationships and evaluating external learning resources
  • Demonstrated career progression with increasing leadership responsibility and exposure to diverse audience groups

CORE WORK ACTIVITIES 

Stakeholder Partnership & Business Engagement

  • Partner with discipline and business leaders to understand operational realities, performance gaps, and capability needs across hotels
  • Translate business priorities into clear learning objectives and structured learning journeys
  • Build trusted, long-term relationships through practical advice, credibility, and consistent delivery
  • Represent APEC operational context, constraints, and cultural nuances in global discussions
  • Influence stakeholder alignment and adoption of initiatives through clear communication and strong execution support

Learning Experience Design & Solution Architecture

Design and guide learning programs across service culture, brand standards, leadership development, hotel operations, commercial effectiveness, and cohort-based talent programs.

  • Create clear, compelling learning materials and Power Point presentations that effectively communicate concepts to senior and operational audiences
  • Ensure materials demonstrate strong visual storytelling, clarity, and attention to detail

Learning Design: 

  • Create high-level program structures including flow, sequencing, and practical application 
  • Apply learner-centric design principles, using digital, blended, and hands on learning methods 
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to ensure content is relevant, engagement and effective 
  • Advise on when to build custom content, curate existing resources, or engage external vendors 
  • Review and provide feedback on learning materials created globally and continent stakeholders to ensure applicability for hotel audiences 

Content Curation:

  • Research, evaluate, and recommend external learning resources 
  • Create blended learning pathways that combine curated external content with internal experiences 
  • Assess quality, relevance, and fit of off-the-shelf content 
  • Stay current on learning marketplace trends and emerging providers

Program Planning, Administration & Follow-Through

  • Own detailed program planning including timelines, milestones, stakeholder touchpoints, and logistics
  • Ensure strong administrative discipline: tracking actions, following up with stakeholders, and closing loops
  • Manage multiple programs concurrently with precision and reliability
  • Develop high quality materials and presentations that support effective delivery and stakeholder engagement
  • Anticipate issues early and proactively course-correct to ensure smooth execution
  • Maintain accurate documentation, communications, and governance processes

Vendor Management & Budget Oversight

  • Source, evaluate, and manage external vendors, facilitators, and content partners
  • Ensure vendors understand hotel realities and learner expectations
  • Manage budgets responsibly and deliver strong value for investment

Insights, Quality & Continuous Improvement

  • Gather feedback and insights to improve program effectiveness and learner experience
  • Apply a strong eye for detail to continuously improve content, flow, and execution quality
  • Recommend enhancements, refinements, or retirement of learning solutions based on impact
