Steward Supervisor

The Stewarding Supervisor is responsible for supervising and supporting Stewards to ensure efficient, safe, and high‑quality cleaning and sanitation of all kitchen and food service areas. The role oversees proper use of chemicals and equipment, supports banquets and culinary operations, and ensures all stewarding tasks meet hygiene and operational standards. This position also assists with training, scheduling, and coaching team members, contributing to smooth back‑of‑house operations and overall guest satisfaction.
POSITION SUMMARY
- Direct and assist Stewards to ensure efficient cleaning, sanitizing, and organization of kitchen and stewarding areas.
- Monitor water temperatures and chemical levels to ensure compliance with cleaning standards, and ensure all readings are documented.
- Operate and maintain all cleaning equipment, including dishwashers, pot‑washing stations, hand‑wash stations, and trash compactors.
- Support banquet and buffet operations by transporting equipment, ensuring adequate stock, and assisting with banquet plate‑ups.
- Assist cooks and kitchen staff by providing required items and completing various support tasks as needed.
- Ensure all cleaned items are properly sanitised and returned to their designated storage locations.
- Support management with hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating, counseling, disciplining, and motivating team members.
- Follow all company, safety, and security policies; report accidents, unsafe conditions, and equipment issues promptly; complete required safety training.
- Ensure uniforms and personal appearance are clean and professional at all times; protect company assets and maintain confidentiality.
- Communicate clearly and professionally; welcome and acknowledge guests according to company standards; anticipate and address service needs.
- Build and maintain positive working relationships; support team efforts to meet quality and operational goals.
- Ensure adherence to sanitation, quality, and performance standards in all stewarding activities.
- Perform physical duties including lifting up to 50 pounds, standing or walking for extended periods, bending, twisting, and working on uneven or slippery surfaces.
- Perform other reasonable duties as requested by Supervisors or Managers.

QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Completion of a qualification in Hospitality Operations or Food Safety from a recognised training institution (preferred).
- Minimum 2 yearr of experience in stewarding, kitchen operations, or a supervisory position in a hospitality environment.
- Strong knowledge of hygiene standards, sanitation processes, and safe handling of chemicals and cleaning equipment.
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams, coordinate workloads, and maintain high cleanliness and operational standards.
- Strong communication skills, a positive attitude, and the ability to work effectively within a diverse team.
- Must have legal working rights in Fiji.
