FLEX Director of Design - AI Studio
Marriott International HQThe Director of Design for AI Studio is a key leadership position responsible for ensuring that AI solutions are human-centered and intuitive. In the dynamic context of an innovation studio, the Director of Design will not only create mockups and prototypes of the interface but also engage in design research to understand user needs and pain points before development and gather feedback post-implementation. This role is crucial to making sure the Studio’s AI solutions truly solve problems in a way that users can and will use.
Key Responsibilities
· Conduct rapid user research or design thinking sessions at the start of each project to understand and document end-user needs and preferences.
· Create wireframes and UI designs for AI prototypes, demonstrating how users will interact with AI-driven features.
· Collaborate with product managers and engineers to ensure the designs drive KPIs and are implementable within reasonable timelines.
· Gather feedback during pilot tests, observing how users interact with the prototype, and iterate on the design to address usability issues.
· Tirelessly advocate for user-centered solutions, helping to ensure that technology does not overshadow the human element, particularly in hospitality where human touch is paramount.
· Design for data visualization: Create intuitive designs that facilitate understanding and interpretation of data.
Required Qualifications
· 8+ years of experience in UX/UI, design research and in working with stakeholders at various levels to facilitate thoughtful design decisions.
· Bachelor's or degree in UX design or a related field.
· Portfolio of work showing applications that have been released and are in use today, with bonus points for AI driven, process automation apps. Candidates should be prepared to demonstrate their work during the interview process.
· Familiarity with and a champion of AI ethics and responsible AI practices.
· Passionate about designing AI systems that enhance employee productivity by removing tedious, manual labor.
Preferred Qualifications
· Master's degree in UX design or a related field
The pay range for this position is $56.58 to $90.24 per hour.
Washington Applicants Only: Employees will accrue 0.0334 PTO balance for every hour worked and eligible to receive minimum of 9 holidays annually.
