Sr. Director, Data Technology

The Senior Director of Data & Analytics will lead the development and execution of the organization’s enterprise-wide data strategy, governance, engineering, and data product initiatives. This role is pivotal in transforming data into a strategic asset to drive innovation, operational efficiency, and customer value. The ideal candidate will bridge technical expertise and business acumen to oversee cross-functional teams, ensure data integrity, and deliver scalable data solutions that align with organizational goals.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Data Strategy & Leadership
- Define and execute the enterprise data strategy, including vision, roadmap, and KPIs to align with business objectives.
- Champion a data-driven culture, fostering collaboration across disciplines (e.g., Product, Engineering, Customer, Commercial, Finance).
- Identify opportunities to leverage advanced analytics, AI/ML, and automation for competitive advantage.
- Data Governance & Compliance
- Establish and enforce data governance frameworks, policies, and standards to ensure data quality, security, and regulatory compliance (e.g., GDPR, CBDT, PIPL)
- Oversee data cataloging, metadata management, and lineage tracking
- Partner with Legal and Compliance teams to mitigate risks and ensure adherence to data privacy laws
- Data Engineering & Infrastructure
- Lead the design, development, and maintenance of scalable data architectures (e.g., cloud platforms, data lakes, warehouses).
- Optimize data pipelines for ingestion, transformation, and real-time analytics.
- Manage vendor relationships and evaluate emerging technologies (e.g., Snowflake, Databricks, Alicloud/AWS/Azure)
- Data Products & Analytics
- Drive the development of customer-facing and internal data products (e.g., dashboards, APIs, predictive models)
- Collaborate with Product Managers to prioritize and deliver high-impact analytics solutions
- Enable self-service analytics by democratizing access to data for stakeholders
- Team Leadership
- Build and mentor high-performing teams in data engineering, analytics, governance, and product management
- Foster innovation through continuous learning, agile practices, and cross-functional collaboration.
TEAM STRUCTURE
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Required:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science, Data Science, Business Analytics, or related field. MBA is a plus
- 12+ years in data management, analytics, or engineering roles, with 5+ years in leadership
- Proven track record in scaling data infrastructure and delivering enterprise-wide data initiatives
- Expertise in data governance frameworks (e.g., DAMA, DCAM) and compliance standards
- Proficiency in SQL, Python, Spark, and modern data stack tools
- Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (Alicloud, AWS, Azure) and big data technologies
- Strong stakeholder management and ability to influence C-suite executives.
- Exceptional communication skills to translate technical concepts into business value.
- Familiarity with AI/ML model lifecycle management and MLOps.
