JOB SUMMARY

The EBC Trainee supports the Event Booking Centre team by assisting with daily sales and event booking activities. This hands-on training role provides a learning platform for individuals interested in hospitality sales and group coordination. The trainee works closely with the team to manage client enquiries, prepare proposals and contracts, maintain internal systems, and support communication with other departments to ensure a smooth customer journey from enquiry to event handover.

The position offers exposure to Marriott’s sales processes and tools, while developing core skills in customer service, administration, and hotel operations.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Sales & Booking Support

  • Assist in responding to group and event enquiries under supervision.
  • Help prepare proposals, contracts, and client communication using standard templates.
  • Support the input and maintenance of data in systems such as Opera Sales & Catering and Microsoft tools.
  • Participate in updating group booking details and ensuring accuracy in system entries.

Administrative Tasks

  • Assist in organizing files and documentation for each enquiry or confirmed event.
  • Help prepare reports, client correspondence, and departmental updates as requested.
  • Support meeting preparations, follow-up emails, and internal communication with relevant departments.

Operational Coordination

  • Attend site inspections and internal briefings as an observer or assistant.
  • Coordinate with internal teams (Event Planning, Kitchen, Operations) to ensure client requirements are clearly understood.
  • Help track deadlines and follow up with clients or departments as needed.

Learning & Development

  • Learn about Marriott’s sales systems, procedures, and brand standards.
  • Participate in training sessions and team meetings to enhance product and system knowledge.
  • Observe and understand the complete sales cycle, from enquiry to post-event feedback.

 

CANDIDATE PROFILE

Education and Experience:

  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a Hospitality, Business, Sales, or Tourism Management program.
  • No prior experience required; any internship or exposure to hospitality is a plus.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and willing to learn.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (especially Outlook, Word, and Excel).
  • Positive attitude and a team player mindset.
  • Fluent in French & English; additional languages are an advantage.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

  • This is a trainee/internship position intended for learning and professional development.
  • Trainees will receive regular feedback and mentoring from their manager.
  • Flexibility in schedule may be required depending on hotel activity.
  • An internship evaluation can be provided upon completion.
